Instructions
- Step 1: Heat filtered water to 175°F (80°C). Do not use boiling water as it will make the matcha bitter and destroy beneficial compounds.
- Step 2: In a small bowl, whisk the matcha powder with 2-3 tablespoons of the warm water using a bamboo whisk or regular whisk until smooth and frothy with no lumps.
- Step 3: Using a microplane or fine grater, grate the fresh ginger root until you have 1 tablespoon of finely grated ginger.
- Step 4: In a large mug or glass, combine the whisked matcha mixture, grated ginger, fresh lemon juice, and raw honey.
- Step 5″ Add the remaining warm water and stir well until the honey is completely dissolved and all ingredients are well combined.
- Step 6: Let the drink steep for 2-3 minutes to allow flavors to meld. Strain if desired for a smoother texture.
